HB 2077 Summary

• Amends section 38-797.07 of Arizona Revised Statutes regarding long-term disability (LTD) program benefits administered by the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

• Adds requirement that members demonstrate disability by being unable to perform duties of their occupation with an employer where the disability developed (during first 30 months), or unable to perform any work for which reasonably qualified (after 24 months of benefits within 5 years).

• Specifies that service credit for retirement benefits during LTD payments shall not exceed 30 years or the total years credited at disability commencement, whichever is greater.

• Clarifies that ASRS or its contracted administrator may investigate, collect evidence, and examine statements related to suspected falsification of LTD eligibility or benefits information.

• Approved by the Governor on July 1, 2025.
