Schools participating in federally funded or assisted meal programs shall not serve, sell, or allow third-party sales of ultraprocessed foods on campus during the normal school day, effective in the 2026-2027 school year.

Parents and guardians may still provide ultraprocessed foods to their own students during the school day.

Ultraprocessed foods are defined as those containing any of 11 specified ingredients: potassium bromate, propylparaben, titanium dioxide, brominated vegetable oil, yellow dyes 5 and 6, blue dyes 1 and 2, green dye 3, red dyes 3 and 40.

The Department of Education shall post a standardized compliance certification form on its website and maintain a public list of schools that certify compliance with the ultraprocessed food prohibition.

The act is titled the "Arizona Healthy Schools Act" and was approved by the governor on April 14, 2025.
