HB 2292 Summary

• Requires hospital service corporations, health care services organizations, disability insurers, and group disability insurers to cover genetic counseling, genetic testing, and germline mutation testing for cancer risk based on National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines, effective January 1, 2026.

• Mandates coverage for genetic tests related to BRCA genes (BRCA1, BRCA2), Lynch Syndrome genes (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2, EPCAM), and other hereditary cancer syndrome-related genes when ordered by a health care provider.

• Eliminates all cost-sharing for covered genetic screening and testing services, including deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.

• Requires primary care providers to assess adult patients for personal or family history of melanoma, breast, ovarian, endometrial, colorectal, gastric, pancreatic, or prostate cancer and refer for genetic counseling or testing when appropriate.

• Directs the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and its contractors to provide genetic screening, counseling, and testing for members when medically indicated.
