Increases the maximum wage claim amount that employees can file with the department from $5,000 to $12,000.

Allows employees to file written claims with the department for unpaid wages instead of pursuing other legal remedies under section 23-355.

Establishes a one-year filing deadline for wage claims measured from the accrual date of the claim.

Authorizes the department to obtain judgment, execution, garnishment, attachment, or other collection remedies on behalf of employees for unpaid wages.

Permits the department to receive payments on wage claims and deposit funds into a special state fund for disbursement to wage claimants.
