Employers with 50+ employees in Arizona must grant employees up to 16 hours of unpaid leave per school year to attend school conferences or activities for their child, with no more than 4 hours per day.

Leave is only available if the employee has exhausted all vacation, personal, and compensatory leave; has worked there for at least 6 consecutive months; and works at least half-time equivalent hours.

Employees must request leave at least 7 days in advance for scheduled events or 24 hours for emergencies, and must consult with employers to minimize disruption to operations.

Employers are not required to grant leave if it would result in more than 5% of the workforce taking leave simultaneously, and are not required to compensate employees for the leave hours.

Schools must schedule parent conferences and activities during both regular school hours and evening hours, and must provide documentation of attendance upon request.
