HB 2627 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 32-1910 to expand pharmacy authority during declared states of emergency resulting from natural disasters or terrorist attacks.

• Allows pharmacists to dispense a onetime emergency refill of up to a thirty-day supply of essential medications when a state of emergency is declared and individuals cannot refill existing prescriptions.

• Permits pharmacists to dispense an additional thirty-day emergency refill if the declared state of emergency continues for at least twenty-one days after the first emergency prescription.

• Allows out-of-state licensed pharmacists to dispense prescription medications in affected areas during declared emergencies if they have proof of licensure and are engaged in legitimate relief efforts.

• Authorizes health system-owned pharmacies to compound and repackage prescription drugs on a nonpatient-specific basis for their patients during declared emergencies, and allows the Board of Pharmacy to adopt rules for temporary or mobile pharmacy facilities during emergencies.
