AZ HB2770

Adds professional development training requirements for school district governing board members, requiring completion of either 8+ hours of training or a professional development workshop offered by the superintendent of public instruction, county school superintendent, or school district superintendent.

Establishes new qualification for governing board candidates: completion of the professional development training required by section 15-349, or meeting one of three alternative requirements (2+ years postsecondary education, 2+ years relevant experience in school governance areas, or a combination of education and experience).

Expands eligible experience areas for board candidates to include public school finance, budgets, school property, student health and safety, student achievement, open meeting law, conflicts of interest, fiduciary responsibilities, and other school district governance experience.

Allows current governing board members serving on the effective date to continue serving until their terms expire without meeting the new training requirements.

Repeals the new training requirement provisions on December 31, 2029.
