AZ HB2844

Allows multiple nonpartisan candidates for the same office to appear on a separate nonpartisan ballot at the primary election if at least one partisan candidate also filed for that office and qualifies under an established political party.

The nonpartisan candidate receiving the highest number of votes in the primary advances to the general election as the nonpartisan nominee for that office.

Modifies ballot placement procedures so that the winning nonpartisan primary candidate appears in the nonpartisan candidates section of the general election ballot, below recognized political party candidates.

Requires nomination petition signers to not have signed petitions for other candidates seeking the same office, and maintains the three percent signature requirement for nonpartisan candidates.

Directs the legislative council staff to prepare conforming legislation for the 2025 legislative session to align Arizona Revised Statutes with these changes.
