SB 1001 Summary

• Requires voters depositing early ballots at voting locations after 7:00 p.m. on the Friday before election day to present valid identification complying with section 16-579, subsection A, paragraph 1.

• Establishes on-site tabulation procedures allowing voters to have early ballots tabulated at polling places during early voting and on election day if they present required identification.

• Removes voters from the active early voting list if they deposit an early ballot without presenting sufficient identification after 7:00 p.m. on the Friday preceding election day.

• Requires county recorders to maintain separate secured ballot boxes for verified early ballots (with ID confirmation) and unverified early ballots at voting locations, clearly labeled and physically separated.

• Modifies early ballot return procedures to restrict mail-in ballot deposits to county recorder offices or designated locations only; eliminates polling place ballot drop-off for regular early ballots except through on-site tabulation with ID verification.
