Senate Bill 1078 Summary

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes section 28-4539 regarding manufacturer unladen truck and passenger vehicle license plates.

• Allows manufacturers, full-time employees, and contracted persons to operate vehicles using manufacturer test license plates if a record of assignment is made or other evidence of a contract and designation is present inside the vehicle.

• Maintains existing restrictions prohibiting manufacturer test plates on leased or rented vehicles, vehicles carrying over 300 pounds of cargo, work or service vehicles, sold vehicles, and laden cargo vehicles.

• Requires proof of contract or designation between the manufacturer and the person operating the vehicle to be kept inside the vehicle for authorized use.
