Senate Bill 1092 Summary

• Prohibits the state, cities, towns, counties, and political subdivisions from establishing vehicle miles of travel (VMT) reduction goals or targets in transportation or land use planning.

• Prohibits tracking or maintaining records of a person's vehicle miles of travel through odometer readings, traffic cameras capturing license plates, third-party data, or any other method that would reveal how many miles a person traveled.

• Prohibits imposing or collecting mileage fees, per-mile charges, or any tax or fee based on vehicle miles traveled by individuals in motor vehicles.

• Provides exceptions to all three prohibitions for interstate agreements that administer fuel tax or registration fee payments for commercial vehicles operating in multiple states and for vehicles owned and operated by state or local government entities.
