County boards of supervisors or election officers must transmit cast vote records to the Arizona Secretary of State within 48 hours after the county canvass is transmitted, in a sortable format.

Cast vote records must remain unaltered, except for precincts with fewer than 25 registered voters where only voter counts and cast vote record totals are reported instead of individual records.

Boards of supervisors or election officers are prohibited from randomizing or otherwise altering the original cast vote record files.

Cast vote records and related information constitute public records under Arizona law.

"Cast vote record" is defined as an electronic record of voters' selections captured by a tabulation device from a ballot or ballot image that cannot be linked to a specific voter.
