SB 1313 Summary

• Prohibits cities, towns, counties, and other political subdivisions from recommending or requiring residents to place products in recycling bins unless those products are actively recycled at present time, effective immediately upon passage.

• Defines "actively recycled" as a product that is reprocessed into a new product.

• Amends Arizona Revised Statutes sections 9-500.07 (cities and towns) and 11-269 (counties) to add the prohibition while maintaining the requirement to provide residents with recycling and waste reduction opportunities.

• Creates new section 49-707 to apply the same recycling prohibition statewide to all municipalities, counties, and other political subdivisions.
