SB 1359 Summary

• Renames the "active early voting list" to the "permanent early voting list" throughout Arizona election statutes (sections 16-245, 16-411, 16-461, 16-510, 16-542, and 16-544).

• Removes the automatic removal provision that required voters to be removed from the early voting list if they failed to vote early ballots in all elections for two consecutive election cycles.

• Eliminates the requirement for county recorders to send annual notices to voters who haven't voted early ballots asking them to confirm their desire to remain on the list, and removes the 90-day response deadline for such confirmations.

• Maintains voter eligibility to remain on the permanent early voting list until they request removal in writing, their registration becomes inactive or is canceled, or the election notice is returned undeliverable and contact cannot be established.
