SB 1360 Summary

• Repeals Title 11, Chapter 7, Article 8 of Arizona Revised Statutes and sections 13-1509, 13-2928, 13-2929, and 41-1724 relating to immigration enforcement and gang intelligence teams.

• Removes the gang and immigration intelligence team enforcement mission border security subaccount from the public safety equipment fund, redirecting penalty assessment revenues ($4 per fine) to the public safety equipment fund instead.

• Eliminates a provision in smuggling law (§13-2319) that allowed peace officers to stop vehicles based on reasonable suspicion of civil traffic violations.

• Removes the entrapment defense provisions from employer sanctions laws (§23-212 and §23-212.01) governing unauthorized alien employment.

• Removes provisions in vehicle impound law (§28-3511) authorizing removal and impoundment of vehicles used to transport illegal aliens or conceal undocumented immigrants.
