SB1525 Summary

• Allows career technical education districts (CTEDs) to enter into agreements with universities under the Arizona Board of Regents, in addition to existing authority to partner with community colleges, if the community college in the county cannot offer the requested course or program.

• Requires CTEDs to notify community college presidents by November 1 each year of courses or programs they seek to offer, and community colleges have 30 days to respond regarding availability; silence or inability to respond allows CTED to pursue university partnerships.

• Authorizes the Arizona Board of Regents to enter into agreements with CTED governing boards when such agreements serve the interests of the state.

• Requires intergovernmental agreements between CTEDs and universities to include the same detailed provisions currently required for CTED agreements with other entities, including financial terms, accountability measures, and quality standards.
