SB 1533 Summary

• Expands confidentiality protections for judges', commissioners', and hearing officers' family members who share the same full name as the judge/commissioner/hearing officer across multiple statutes governing county recorder records, county assessor/treasurer records, voter registration, department of transportation records, and public personnel files.

• Adds family members of justices, judges, commissioners, and hearing officers with matching full names to the definition of "eligible person" in sections 11-483, 11-484, 13-2401, 16-153, 28-454, 39-123, and 39-124.

• Allows eligible persons to request that their identifying information (home address, telephone number, property records) be restricted from public access for five years through court petition, with restrictions automatically removed on January 5 following expiration.

• Makes it a class 5 felony to knowingly publish personal information of protected individuals on the internet if it poses an imminent and serious threat to their safety or the safety of their immediate family or same-named family members.

• Clarifies that family members of judges, commissioners, and hearing officers with identical full names qualify for address confidentiality protections previously available only to the judicial officers themselves.
