Amends Arizona Revised Statutes Section 38-296 to allow city and town council members to run for mayor of the same city or town without resigning from their council seat during their current term.

Council members whose terms do not coincide with the mayor's term are not required to resign before seeking the mayoral office.

Council members may offer their candidacy for mayor without first resigning from office, creating an exception to the general prohibition on incumbents running for other salaried offices.

Maintains existing provisions that violations of candidacy restrictions constitute misfeasance in office, resulting in the forfeiture of the current office.
