SB1671 Summary

• Adds traditional healing services as a covered health and medical service under AHCCCS for members who qualify through Indian Health Service or tribal facilities and meet federal participation requirements outlined in 42 CFR section 136.12.

• Requires traditional healing services to be delivered by or through Indian Health Service or a tribal facility and is subject to approval by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and available funding.

• Expands coverage to both acute care services under section 36-2907 and long-term care services under section 36-2939.

• Defines "tribal facility" as a facility operated by an Indian tribe or tribal organization authorized to provide services under Public Law 93-638.

• Appropriates $1,300,000 from the state general fund to the AHCCCS administration in fiscal year 2025-2026 for traditional healing services, with additional expenditure authority amount to be determined.
