AZ SB1711

Establishes the obesity treatment study committee to examine the cost, potential savings, effectiveness, health outcomes, and value of extending Arizona Medicaid (AHCCCS) coverage to comprehensive obesity treatment.

Committee membership consists of two senators and two representatives (from different political parties), AHCCCS and Department of Health Services directors, two patient advocacy representatives, two physicians or medical society members, and one registered dietitian.

Committee shall conduct a comprehensive study, identify resources and policy initiatives to enhance public health and reduce obesity treatment costs, and review and propose revisions to AHCCCS policies to improve outcomes for people with obesity.

Committee must submit a report with findings and recommendations to the governor, president of the senate, speaker of the house of representatives, and secretary of state by December 31, 2025.

The committee is repealed on September 30, 2026.
