Physicians performing surgeries at outpatient surgical centers must annually provide the center with their call-coverage plan, including hospital call coverage if applicable.

Physicians must submit updated call-coverage plans to the surgical center whenever changes are made to their coverage arrangements.

Failure to provide or update call-coverage plans constitutes unprofessional conduct under Arizona medical licensing laws for both medical doctors (Chapter 13) and osteopathic physicians (Chapter 17).

The bill amends Arizona Revised Statutes sections 32-1401 and 32-1854 to add this new requirement to the definitions of unprofessional conduct.

The law takes effect December 31, 2026.
