Health care providers are prohibited from releasing medical records or allowing access to nonpublic areas of medical facilities for immigration enforcement purposes unless specific legal conditions are met.

Medical records may only be released for immigration enforcement with written patient authorization, a valid search warrant signed by a neutral magistrate, or a properly served subpoena.

Immigration enforcement is defined broadly to include all efforts to investigate or enforce federal civil or criminal immigration laws, including laws penalizing a person's presence, employment, entry, or reentry in the United States.

Adds new section 12-2294.02 to Arizona Revised Statutes governing the release of medical records specifically in immigration enforcement contexts.
