AZ HCR2003

Requires schools and athletic associations to designate interscholastic and intramural athletic teams as male, female, or coeducational/mixed based on athletes' biological sex, effective January 1, 2027.

Prohibits athletes of the male sex from participating on athletic teams designated for females, women, or girls.

Mandates that restrooms, locker rooms, shower rooms, and other private spaces integral to athletics be restricted to individuals of the designated sex, with schools and athletic associations prohibited from allowing otherwise.

Creates private causes of action allowing athletes to sue for damages, injunctive relief, and attorney fees if deprived of athletic opportunities due to violations or if subjected to retaliation for reporting violations.

Defines "sex" as biological status recorded at birth on the original birth certificate; the measure is titled the "Protect Girls' Sports in Arizona Act" and will be submitted to voters at the next general election.
