Arizona Legislature proposes to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution, originally passed by Congress on March 22, 1972 as House Joint Resolution 208.

The ERA states that equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex.

The amendment grants Congress power to enforce the provision through appropriate legislation and would take effect two years after ratification.

Directs the Arizona Secretary of State to transmit copies of the resolution to the President of the U.S. Senate and the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The resolution was introduced by Representative Crews and 14 co-sponsors during the 57th Legislature's Second Regular Session (2026).
