Inspections may be conducted using photographs, recorded videos, or live video streams, and providers may use automated software for reviews without additional manual oversight.

Municipalities and counties cannot charge fees beyond reasonable recording costs for private permits and must post all building codes and fee schedules online or forfeit the ability to charge permitting fees for covered projects.

Local governments retain authority to prohibit specific private providers who have been associated with nuisances requiring abatement, with an appeals process available to the provider.
