Prohibits AHCCCS (Arizona's Medicaid program) and its contractors from requiring prior authorization for antipsychotic drugs prescribed to adults 18+ with a serious mental illness determination, with one exception

Allows a step therapy protocol requiring the member to show failure to respond to no more than two distinct antipsychotic drugs before accessing a prescribed medication

Requires step therapy processes to be adjudicated electronically in real time and must accept evidence of two failed antipsychotic drug trials from the previous five years under current or previous health plans

Defines "failure to successfully respond" as lack of efficacy during a six-week trial, allergic reactions, intolerable side effects, significant drug interactions, or genetic factors preventing safe dosing

Effective date is December 31, 2026
