School personnel, volunteers, and contractors are prohibited from shaming students or treating them differently due to unpaid school meal fees.

Students with unpaid meal fees must be served the same meals as students without unpaid fees, unless an alternative meal is needed for dietary or religious reasons.

Public schools may not use denial or delay of nutritious meals as a disciplinary action against students during the instructional day.

The requirements apply to all public schools that serve meals meeting Arizona's nutrition standards (section 15-242).
