Cities and towns may place wayfinding signs for preapproved locations within their jurisdiction without submitting an application for preapproval to the Arizona Department of Transportation, though they must submit the finished sign placement location and design to the department

Preapproved wayfinding sign destinations include downtown areas, business districts, schools, parks, arboretums, trails, community centers, municipal buildings, airports, bus or rail depots, museums, and planetariums

Newly constructed subdivisions that are platted and recorded after the bill's effective date are also eligible for wayfinding signs without preapproval

Appropriates $300,000 from the state general fund in fiscal year 2026-2027 to the Department of Transportation for grants to rural communities for wayfinding signs, to be awarded in conjunction with new department projects in rural communities
