AB 1280 Summary

• Creates new felony offense for caregivers of children under 8 years old who assault a child with force likely to cause great bodily injury, resulting in the child becoming comatose due to brain injury or suffering permanent paralysis

• Establishes punishment of life imprisonment with possibility of parole for this new offense

• Defines "paralysis" as major or complete loss of motor function resulting from injury to the nervous system or muscular mechanism
