Grants permanent classified school district employees elected to the Legislature a leave of absence from their duties, with salary and benefits protection during their term of office.

Grants permanent classified community college district employees elected to the Legislature the same leave of absence rights as school district employees, effective December 6, 2010.

Allows employees on legislative leave to work part-time for their district on mutually agreed terms, and guarantees return to their original position within six months after leaving office at the same salary level.

Protects classified status and employment rights of replacement workers, who cannot claim the vacated position but may be transferred to other vacant classified positions in the district.

Provides retroactive leave eligibility to employees serving in the Legislature between December 6, 2010 and January 1, 2011.
