AB 1902 Summary

• Allows members who transfer from Retirement Plan E to Retirement Plan D and become disabled before meeting service requirements to elect to transfer back to Plan E prospectively and receive disability benefits under Plan E.

• Changes the definition of unpaid service from "22 consecutive workdays" to "any payroll period in which no compensation is received" for purposes of calculating service credits and benefits.

• Authorizes nonretired members to use current, forfeited, and vested membership periods when meeting reciprocity requirements for determining age of entry into the retirement system.

• Applies only to Los Angeles County and requires the county board of supervisors to adopt a resolution to make the section operative.
