AB 1966 Summary

• Permits federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) and rural health clinics (RHCs) to elect fee-for-service reimbursement for inpatient obstetrical and gynecological services, in addition to existing options for pharmacy and dental services.

• Allows costs of elected fee-for-service obstetrical and gynecological services to be adjusted out of the FQHC's or RHC's clinic base rate as scope-of-service changes.

• Requires the Department of Health Care Services to seek all necessary federal approvals and state plan amendments by March 30, 2011 to implement the bill's provisions.

• Implementation is contingent upon obtaining federal financial participation under Medi-Cal.
