AB 2003 Summary

• Prohibits contracts or appointments made by a local agency's legislative body from taking effect between election day and when newly elected members are sworn in, unless the new legislative body (including new members) reviews and approves them

• Allows an exception for contracts valued at $20,000 or less that expire by their own terms on or before the date the incoming legislative body is sworn in

• Applies to local agencies whose governing bodies are subject to election, including cities, counties, school districts, and special districts

• Does not apply to contracts entered into before this section became effective
