Expands jury admonishments to prohibit jurors from conducting research, disseminating information, or conversing about the trial, with courts required to specifically explain the prohibition applies to all forms of electronic and wireless communication.

Makes willful disobedience by a juror of court admonishments regarding communication or research about a case punishable as either civil or criminal contempt of court.

Requires court officers having charge of a jury to prevent any form of electronic or wireless communication with jurors during deliberation.

Amends Code of Civil Procedure Sections 611, 613, and 1209, and Penal Code Sections 166, 1122, and 1128 to implement consistent jury communication restrictions across civil and criminal proceedings.

Specifies that no state reimbursement is required because the act creates or changes penalties for crimes within existing statutory exceptions.
