California State University and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office must establish methods to inform students and advisers about associate degrees for transfer and transfer pathways, to be completed before fall 2011-12 academic year.

Community college districts may use these established methods or other approaches to inform students about CSU majors that align with community college majors or emphasis areas required for an associate degree for transfer.

University of California is requested to continue examining articulation of lower division major prerequisites and collaborate with community colleges to design transfer degrees that prepare students for entry into UC majors, with interim report due June 30, 2011 and final report due December 31, 2011.

California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office must establish a process to identify courses satisfying lower division preparation requirements across the community college system consistent with common course numbering standards.

The bill becomes operative only if Senate Bill 1440 of the 2010-11 Regular Session is chaptered.
