AB 2329 Summary

• Establishes the Climate Action Team (CAT) under the Secretary for Environmental Protection, comprised of representatives from 11 state agencies, to coordinate California's climate policy and greenhouse gas emission reduction efforts.

• Requires the Natural Resources Agency to prepare and submit a California Climate Vulnerability and Adaptation Plan by June 1, 2012, addressing protection of the state's natural resources, public health, infrastructure, and economic vitality from climate change impacts.

• Mandates triennial review and revision of the adaptation plan to incorporate new climate change impact information and adaptation strategies, with the plan serving as California's federal climate change adaptation planning document.

• Directs the Climate Action Team to identify state activities and funding programs that can be coordinated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, recommend investment strategies and policies, and provide assistance to local and regional governments on climate adaptation.

• Requires the Natural Resources Agency to utilize and update the CalAdapt Internet Web site to provide California residents visibility into climate change impacts to their communities and inform actions to reduce identified impacts.
