AB 2335 Summary

• Requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to study and recommend statutory, regulatory, and programmatic changes necessary to develop comprehensive school-level financial data reporting by December 1, 2011.

• Superintendent's recommendations must address modifications to account code structures, the California School Accounting Manual, financial regulations, and the state's Education Information System to enable school-level financial reporting.

• Establishes legislative intent to increase transparency of state funding mechanisms and link programmatic investments to pupil achievement through improved financial data reporting.

• Requires the Superintendent to notify school district superintendents, county offices of education, and charter school administrators annually (beginning July 1, 2011) about capacity and directions for tracking and reporting school-level financial data using standardized account codes.

• Section 41054 provisions are repealed on December 1, 2015.
