Expands peace officer status to members of the Division of Adult Parole Operations and Division of Juvenile Facilities whose primary duties include investigation and apprehension of inmates, wards, parolees, and escapees, plus enforcement of parole conditions and rendering mutual aid to other law enforcement agencies.

Removes the requirement that parole officers of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation obtain case-by-case or unit-by-unit director approval to carry firearms; instead applies the same firearm authorization standards as other peace officers in the Office of Correctional Safety.

Clarifies that parole agents have the same meaning as parole officers and updates references throughout the Penal Code to reflect the new categorization of parole officers under Section 830.2 rather than Section 830.5.

Maintains existing firearm qualification and training requirements under Section 832, including quarterly firearm qualifications for officers carrying concealed weapons off-duty.
