AB 2410 Summary

• Expands law enforcement and social services agency policies to address crime scenes involving narcotics, hallucinogens, methamphetamine, cocaine, PCP, and heroin where children are present or living
• Requires policies to recognize that exposing children to manufacturing, trafficking, and use of these substances constitutes criminal conduct requiring coordinated response
• Authorizes removal of children from crime scenes if an immediate threat to their health or safety exists, conducted contemporaneously with law enforcement investigations
• Mandates that adoption of these protocols, policies, and standards comply with existing California Welfare and Institutions Code provisions regarding dependent children jurisdiction and custody
• Encourages arrest for child endangerment charges when probable cause exists, coordinated with child protective agency investigations of the child's welfare
