Contact information must include the 1-866-SEAT-CHECK hotline and website, local California Highway Patrol office telephone number, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Child Safety Seat Inspection Station Locator, and State Department of Public Health's child passenger restraint system safety inspection locator.

Applies when a child is less than 6 years of age or weighs less than 60 pounds at time of discharge.

Clarifies that hospitals, clinics, and birthing centers have no obligation to provide direct assistance with child passenger restraint systems beyond providing the specified contact information.

Hospitals, clinics, and birthing centers are not responsible for whether parents or guardians actually use child passenger restraint systems.
