Requires private schools to obtain two sets of fingerprints from job applicants for positions with minor pupil contact and submit them to the Department of Justice for criminal background checks.

Department of Justice must complete criminal history checks within 15 working days (or 3 working days once electronic fingerprinting is implemented) and notify employers of convictions or arrests pending adjudication for sex offenses, controlled substance offenses, crimes of violence, or serious/violent felonies.

Prohibits private schools from employing individuals convicted of violent or serious felonies, or anyone who would be prohibited from employment by a public school district, unless the person has obtained a certificate of rehabilitation or proven rehabilitation to a court.

Requires the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to make available to private schools a listing of all credentialholders who have had final adverse action taken against their credentials, and send quarterly updates of teachers with revoked or suspended teaching credentials.

Establishes confidentiality requirements for criminal background information, including secure storage, limited access, and destruction after hiring determination is made.
