AB 419 Summary

• Requires boards of supervisors or city councils to direct the elections official to conduct a local agency formation commission-ordered election within 45 days of notification, effective January 1, 2011.

• If the board or council fails to act within 45 days, the elections official must automatically place the item on the ballot at the next established election occurring at least 88 days after notification.

• The 45-day requirement does not apply to applications filed before January 1, 2011.

• Amends Government Code Sections 57000, 57132, and 57132.5 to establish these election timing procedures for changes of organization or reorganization proposals.
