AB 668 Summary

• Expands trespass law (Penal Code Section 602) to apply to persons convicted of any felony, misdemeanor, or specified infraction committed on private property, not just violent felonies.

• Prohibits re-entry to specific private property after being informed by a peace officer that the property is not open to the person or after being asked to leave.

• Establishes time limits for enforcement: violent felonies apply indefinitely, other felonies for 5 years from conviction, misdemeanors for 2 years, and infractions for 1 year.

• Adds new trespass offenses for unauthorized entry at live televised events not open to the public (punishable by up to 6 months jail and/or $1,000-$2,000 fine) and expands restrictions on airport and passenger vessel terminal access.

• Contains contingent provisions coordinating with AB 451 and AB 2324 to avoid conflicting amendments to Section 602.
