CA SB1091

Allows Medi-Cal benefits to be provided to individuals awaiting adjudication in county juvenile detention facilities if they are eligible for Medi-Cal at admission or subsequently determined eligible.

Requires the county to pay the state's share of Medi-Cal expenditures and administrative costs for detained individuals receiving benefits.

Benefits continue until the date of the individual's adjudication.

Implementation requires written confirmation from federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that federal financial participation is available and a declaration from the Director of Health Care Services that implementation will not jeopardize federal funding.

The Director must cease implementation if it becomes necessary to protect the state's federal financial participation or any increase in federal medical assistance percentage.
