• Requires Australian government to provide written annual notification by May 1 to the California Department of Fish and Game regarding kangaroo commercial harvest quotas for the kangaroo importation exception to apply.

• Extends the repeal date of the kangaroo importation exception from January 1, 2011 to January 1, 2016.

• Maintains existing prohibitions on importing, possessing for sale, or selling dead bodies or parts of 23 specified animal species including polar bears, tigers, whales, sea otters, and kangaroos.

• Establishes that crocodiles and alligators cannot be imported for commercial purposes, possessed for sale, or sold within the state beginning January 1, 2015, with exceptions for non-endangered species.

• Penalties for violation are a misdemeanor with fines between $1,000 and $5,000, imprisonment up to six months in county jail, or both, per violation.
