SB 364 Summary

• Legislature shall create Joint Task Force on Hospital Conversion and Patient Care, including chairs of Assembly and Senate health committees, Senate President pro Tempore or designee, and Speaker of Assembly or designee.

• Task force shall study governance structures of medical foundations in light of federal health care reform, gather information on cost-effective care models, review oversight of corporate conversions, and consider additional oversight mechanisms for hospital conversions.

• Task force may use existing legislative funds, solicited public and private foundation funds, and federal funds to support activities.

• Task force shall not begin study until it certifies sufficient funds are available and must complete and submit study to Legislature within 12 months of providing that certification.

• Task force may seek input from stakeholders including hospitals, patient advocates, and organized labor.
