SB 993 Summary

• Authorizes the California Transportation Commission to relinquish State Highway Route 19 to the City of Lakewood for the portion within its city limits or sphere of influence.

• Revises the description of State Highway Route 66 and authorizes relinquishment to the City of Claremont and City of Rialto for portions within their respective city limits or spheres of influence.

• Relinquished portions of Routes 19 and 66 shall cease to be state highways and are not eligible for future adoption as state highways under Section 81.

• Cities receiving relinquished highway portions must maintain traffic flow continuity, including traffic signal progression, and maintain signs directing motorists to the continuation of the routes.

• Incorporates conditional amendments from SB 1318 if both bills are enacted and effective by January 1, 2011, with this bill enacted after SB 1318.
