AB 1098 Summary

• Requires motor vehicle license fees to be allocated starting July 1, 2012, first to cities incorporated after August 5, 2004, and second to cities incorporated before that date using a formula based on $50 per capita adjusted for revenue and population changes.

• Allocates remaining motor vehicle license fees to the Local Law Enforcement Services Account in the Local Revenue Fund 2011 for distribution to cities, counties, and city-county entities.

• Prohibits the Legislature from appropriating enforcement costs for the Vehicle License Fee Law from the Motor Vehicle License Fee Account in the Transportation Tax Fund.

• Restores revenue allocations to recently incorporated cities and cities that annexed inhabited areas, which were removed by Senate Bill 89 of 2011.

• Takes effect immediately as an urgency statute.
