AB 1266 Summary

• Delays the prohibition on operating a recreational off-highway vehicle with a passenger in a non-manufacturer-designated seat location from January 1, 2013 to July 1, 2013.

• Eliminates the requirement that a passenger's both feet must be flat on the floorboard; replaces it with a requirement that the passenger remain seated upright with back against the seatback while grasping an occupant handhold.

• Requires the seatbelt and shoulder belt or safety harness to be properly fastened for passengers on recreational off-highway vehicles.

• Designates the bill as an urgency statute taking effect immediately upon approval on September 25, 2012.
