AB 1474 Summary

• Transfers administrative functions of the Drug Medi-Cal program from the State Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs to the State Department of Health Care Services, effective July 1, 2012.

• Replaces county plan and negotiated net amount contract requirements with streamlined contracts for alcohol and drug prevention, treatment, and recovery services, operative July 1, 2012.

• Authorizes counties to establish drug courts for adults, juveniles, and parents of children involved in the juvenile court system, subject to state oversight and federal funding requirements.

• Declares the state's interest in women and children's residential treatment services (WCRTS) programs funded by federal grants and requires reporting on program outcomes to the Legislature.

• Appropriates $1,000 from the General Fund to the State Department of Health Care Services and directs transfer of remaining State Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs functions to Health and Human Services Agency departments by July 1, 2013.
